De Rossi blames ref for derby 'theft'

Roma's Daniele De Rossi believes match referee Paolo Tagliavento made a costly error in the Rome derby that resulted in his side slipping to a shock 2-1 defeat at Lazio.

• Late Klose strike wins derby

With Roma leading 1-0 and Lazio looking set to lose their sixth consecutive derby, Cristian Brocchi made a break and fell in the area after contact with Simon Kjaer, resulting in a penalty and a red card.

Lazio midfielder Hernanes scored from the spot just after the break and Miroslav Klose scored a stoppage time winner to complete the turn around at the Stadio Olimpico.

But De Rossi believes that Brocchi made the most of the incident to earn the penalty and referee Tagliavento was wrong to send off Kjaer.

"Tagliavento is the best referee in Italy, but after what happened, this is certainly not a good decision," De Rossi told Gazzetta Dello Sport. "After the theft, I don't want to talk."

Meanwhile, Brocchi insists he did not dive to win the spot kick and expressed has delighted that Lazio had ended their losing streak in the Derby della Capitale.

"I knew Hernanes could give me that through ball and had also seen Roma were struggling to deal with that type of run," Brocchi told Sky Sport Italia.

"It wasn't a dive. He got my arm and the momentum swung me round, so it was simply the natural movement of my body in that situation."

"Only those who have played in a Rome derby can know what it means to win. It's an important victory, because we were a little sick of being made fun of. We wanted to give our fans this joy they had been waiting for a long time."
