Podolski eyes 2012 glory

Lukas Podolski believes the current Germany team is the best he has played in and is targeting glory at Euro 2012.

• Turkey 1-3 Germany
• Khedira hits out at 'disrespectful' critics

Germany beat Turkey 3-1 on Friday to make it nine wins out of nine and, should they beat Belgium in Dusseldorf on Tuesday, they will go into the finals with a 100% record.

Their young team were hugely impressive as they secured a third-place finish at the 2010 World Cup and, with their performance in qualification having only strengthened their belief, Podolski is setting his sights on continental glory.

"This is definitely the strongest national team I have played in," he told sport1.de. "Our aim is to win the European Championships title next year and we have the quality to do that, and we want to do it after coming so close in recent tournaments."

Belgium and Turkey are now battling it out for a play-off place in Group A with Germany already assured of top spot, but Podolski says his only concern is taking three points on Tuesday.

"We are only looking at ourselves and not who can come second," he said. "Our aim is ten wins from ten games.

"We want to win. We have developed a lot in recent years and we are very consistent and stable. That is why we win such games so clearly."
