Serie A strugglers Bologna have appointed Stefano Pioli as their new coach after sacking Pierpaolo Bisoli.
The Emilia-Romagna outfit dismissed Bisoli on Tuesday in the wake of Sunday's 2-0 defeat at Udinese that left the team bottom of the standings.
Bologna, who have claimed just one point in their first five games of the season, confirmed in a club statement: ''As of today, Stefano Pioli is the new coach of Bologna. Pioli has signed a two-year contract and will be unveiled to the media tomorrow.''
The 45-year-old Pioli had been out of a job since being fired by Palermo last month after less than three months in charge of the Sicilian outfit.
The club earlier confirmed the departure of Bisoli after just five games at the helm.
A statement read: ''Bologna announces it has released coach Pierpaolo Bisoli from his duties as first-team coach. The club wishes to thank Bisoli for his professionalism.''
Bologna had appointed former Cagliari coach Bisoli following the departure of Alberto Malesani at the end of last term. Pioli's first game in charge will be at Novara on October 16.
