Shearer would reject England job

Alan Shearer has spoken of his determination to return to management, but feels he does not have the experience to replace Fabio Capello as England boss.

Capello is all set to step down as manager of the national side after Euro 2012 and the signs are suggesting the FA is determined to bring in an English coach.

The likes of Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp and West Brom boss Roy Hodgson are in the frame, but Shearer has also been touted as a potential candidate. The former England international's one taste of management was a disappointing one, as he failed to save Newcastle from relegation.

"There are far more experienced candidates than me," Shearer told the Sun. "When you see what guys like Harry Redknapp and Roy Hodgson have done and the experience they have, to put me in the bracket with those guys is not right.

"I would love to do it one day but now would be tough. I think if you were to ask an experienced Englishman like the guys that I've mentioned I'm sure they would snap your hands off."

Shearer feels Redknapp could be the man for the job, as he said: "Harry would be great because of his man-management. That's hugely important at football clubs but more so with England because you're only getting players for a week, or five weeks at a tournament."

Shearer has been linked with a number of management posts, including Blackburn and Southampton, and he is itching for a return.

"I've got a great life that I really enjoy," he said. "But I miss that adrenaline rush from football. I'd like to manage for a while."
