Osaka stay in front

Gamba Osaka retained their one-point advantage at the top of the J.League on Sunday with a 1-0 home victory over Urawa Red Diamonds.

Lee Keun-Ho netted the game's only goal in the 28th minute to sink the fourth-bottom Diamonds and keep Gamba just ahead of Kashiwa Reysol, who won 1-0 at Kashima Antlers despite playing for the entire second half with 10 men.

Masato Kudo got his name on the scoresheet after 31 minutes for the visitors, and they held on for the three points despite the 42nd-minute dismissal of Park Dong-hyuk.

Nagoya Grampus Eight slipped a place to third - four points behind Gamba - following their 2-0 defeat at Shimizu S-Pulse, second-half strikes from Genki Omae and Genki Omae proving their undoing.

Also in the Japanese top flight, Vegalta Sendai consolidated fifth spot with a 2-1 triumph against Cerezo Osaka.

Kodai Watanabe put the hosts ahead in the 21st minute and Naoki Sugai doubled their advantage five minutes before the interval, with Cerezo's late consolation coming courtesy of a late penalty from substitute Rui Komatsu.
