City to interview Tevez

ESPNsoccernet has learned Carlos Tevez will be interviewed by Manchester City next week over his apparent refusal to come on as a substitute during the club's 2-0 Champions League loss at Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

City want to ascertain Tevez's version of events, having spoken to a number of his team-mates over the last 48 hours to determine whether the Argentina striker did indeed refuse to be brought on by manager Roberto Mancini or, as Tevez has suggested, there was instead a disagreement over his warm-up.

Tevez, 27, has been handed a maximum suspension of two weeks following the incident, although the club are considering speaking with the PFA over having the ban extended to as long as six weeks, with Mancini keen to see the forward excluded from first-team affairs for the longer term following their disagreement.

Amid suggestions City could go as far as to outright dismiss Tevez - who was linked with a loan move to West Ham on Friday - on the grounds of gross misconduct, PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor has urged for calm while the club conduct their investigation.

Taylor said: "Let's wait and see what emerges from the club's internal enquiries. Until then I would ask for a cool it period. We need to find out exactly what occurred in the cold light of day before passing any judgments. The club intend to speak with the manager, the coaches and the players to find out the facts of what occurred and we are keeping a watching brief."

A report in Saturday's press that Mancini's son, Filippo, refused to come off the substitutes' bench in a City reserve game has been played down by the club as irrelevant.
