Brett Holman kept his name at the front of Socceroos coach Holger Osieck's mind by scoring the match-winner in AZ Alkmaar's 2-1 victory over 10-man Feyenoord 2-1 in the Dutch top-flight.
The win pushes Holman's side to the top of the table.
With the scores locked at 1-1, Holman used his strength in the 85th minute to hold off defenders as he jumped to meet a deep cross and head the ball into the top left corner.
The goal is Holman's first of the season for AZ Alkmaar and his performance comes ahead of the World Cup qualifier against Oman in Sydney on October 11.
Holman was preferred to Socceroos star Tim Cahill for the national side's last match - a 3-1 away win over Saudi Arabia in Dammam.
The Everton star might have to wait a bit longer to return to the starting line-up for Australia after suffering an ankle injury in Saturday's 2-0 loss to Manchester City.
Cahill was booked for sliding in on defender Vincent Kompany but the Manchester City captain actually stood on Cahill's ankle.
