Landreau facing further action

Lille goalkeeper Mickael Landreau could face further sanctions over his reckless challenge on Fahid Ben Khalfallah during Tuesday's Ligue 1 draw with Bordeaux.

Landreau flattened the midfielder with his knee in the 80th minute and conceded a penalty but was shown only a yellow card and was further reprieved when Cheick Diabate, who had scored Bordeaux's goal from an earlier penalty, crashed his second spot-kick against the post.

The 32-year-old faces an anxious wait to see whether the incident is included in referee Tony Chapron's report of the match, in which case he could be handed a suspension.

Landreau, who has won 11 caps for France, has pleaded his innocence in the meantime and told L'Equipe: "The picture looks bad but the contact was more eye-catching than malicious."

For his part Ben Khalfallah, who required six stitches after the collision, expressed no desire to see the case referred to the league's disciplinary commission.

"I am not interested in this," he said. "I just wish there had been a red card at the time."
