Breno in hospital after fire

Bayern defender Breno was taken to hospital on Monday night following a fire which destroyed his home in Munich, according to reports.

Breno, 21, is said to have suffered from smoke inhalation, but his injuries are not believed to be serious.

The player was alone in the house at the time the fire broke out just after midnight, but his wife and children arrived at the scene as the defender was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by Munich police and fire authorities with the damage estimated at between half a million and one million euros.

Breno returned to Munich last summer after a loan spell with Bavarian rivals Nurnberg.

He was originally signed by Bayern in 2008, but has yet to make the breakthrough at the club, making only 21 appearances.
