Senegal book place in finals

Senegal secured their place in next year's African Nations Cup with a 2-0 win over DR Congo.

Moussa Sow put Senegal in front in the 35th minute and, although they had a second ruled out for offside before half-time, Sow found the net again in the 52nd minute to secure the points and lock-up qualification.

Senegal join Botswana and Ivory Coast in qualifying for the tournament, while co-hosts Equatorial Guinea and Gabon also have places secured.

Victory for Senegal leaves Cameroon facing an uphill battle to qualify, and they were largely unimpressive against lowly Mauritius before somehow compiling a flattering 5-0 scoreline.

Goals from Leo Kweuke and Matthew Andongcho put them in charge before Samuel Eto'o added a third from the penalty spot.

A late brace from Eric Choupo-Moting gave the Indomitable Lions a margin of victory they scarcely deserved, even before Eyong Enoh's late goal was disallowed for handball.

Defending champions Egypt had their elimination confirmed as a youthful side went down 2-1 to Sierra Leone.

Sheriff Suma got the opening goal in the 14th minute and, although Mohsen Maruwen equalised on the stroke of half-time, Mohamed Bangura's late penalty ended Egypt's campaign.

Sierra Leone move level with South Africa at the top of Group G ahead of the latter's clash with Niger on Sunday.

There was no place for Kolo Toure - eligible again after completing a six-month drugs ban - in the Ivory Coast starting line-up but they did not miss him in a 5-0 demolition of Rwanda in Group H.

The Ivory Coast goals came in a flood, with Salomon Kalou's opener swiftly followed by a quickfire brace from Wilfried Bony that left Rwanda reeling in Kigali.

In the second half, Gervinho teed up Didier Ya Konan for the fourth before getting the fifth himself as the Elephants, who have already qualified, ran riot.

Libya, playing in Egypt under the nation's new flag and in a new kit after the fall of Muammar Gaddafi, recorded a 1-0 win over Mozambique thanks to Reyad Ellafi's 31st-minute goal, sending them top of Group C ahead of Zambia's game against Comores on Sunday.

A goal in the dying minutes from Tangeni Shipahu gave Namibia a 1-0 win over the Gambia, which sees them draw level with their opponents in Group F but effectively hand Burkino Faso qualification as they sit five points clear at the top.

Denis Oliech's late goal gave Kenya a vital 2-1 win over Guinea Bissau in Nairobi.

Needing victory to keep their hopes alive, Kenya had to wait until the hour mark to see Mike Baraza break the deadlock, and then watched as Danilo Luis Pereira lashed home an equaliser in the 89th minute.

But just as hope was fading, Oliech scored in the 92nd minute for secure three points that keep Kenya's qualification hopes alive in Group J.

Uganda can qualify from the group on Sunday with a victory over Angola, who would then face a battle with Kenya for second place.

Cheick Diabate's quick brace put Mali on course for a 3-0 victory over Cape Verde that sent them to the top of Group A. Mahamand Traore made sure of the win in the second half.

In Group D, Tanzania and Algeria did little to help their qualification hopes with a 1-1 draw.

Tanzania took the lead through Mbwana Samata midway through the first half, but Hameur Bouazza fired in an equaliser just before the hour mark, leaving both teams on five points, trailing Morocco and Central African Republic - who clash on Sunday - by two points.

In Group K, Malawi and Tunisia drew 0-0, leaving both teams locked on 11 points in the battle for second place behind Botswana.
