Stars pencilled in for Kuffour testimonial

A host of local and international football stars will turn out in force this December for the testimonial of former Bayern Munich and Ghana defender Samuel Kuffour.

The match will be held on December 23 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi - home of Ghanaian Premier League side Asante Kotoko FC, who were the last club Kuffour played for before retiring.

Former Manchester United strikers Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke are pencilled in for the match, along with Samuel Eto'o, Alex Song, Stefan Effenberg, Shaun Bartlett, Edgar Davids and Patrick Kluivert, with proceeds of the game going to a Kumasi-based orphanage.

Kuffour will officially bring down the curtain on an illustrious career, which most notably included a 12-year spell at Bayern Munich, during which the centre-back won six Bundesliga titles, four German Cups and the 2001 Champions League.

One of Ghana's most decorated players at club level, Kuffour also represented the national team on 59 occasions, playing for the Black Stars in the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
