Benayoun signs for Arsenal

Yossi Benayoun has signed for Arsenal, having made it clear that he would be leaving Chelsea this summer.

• Andre Santos finalises deal
• Mertesacker moves to Arsenal
• Arsenal agree deal for Park Chu-Young
•  Deadline Day - chat and updates

Benayoun has seen just one minute of action for the Blues this season and was surplus to requirements following the arrival of fellow midfielder Juan Mata from Valencia.

It had been reported that Benayoun would be included in an offer from the Blues for Spurs playmaker Luka Modric and Newcastle have also been linked with the Israel captain, but Arsenal emerged as the frontrunners for his signature and completed the deal before the transfer deadline.

He tweeted on his official Twitter page: ''I sign with arsenal, very happy and excited about it,but now my head is only in the game against grecce [sic] on friday, thanks for the support.''

Benayoun was restricted to 10 appearances for the club last season due to an Achilles injury, which kept him out for six months.
