De Bruyne still hopeful of Chelsea move

Genk winger Kevin De Bruyne is eager to force through a move to Chelsea and is not happy that a £6 million bid from the Premier League club has been rejected.

De Bruyne wants to follow Genk goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and Belgium team-mate Romelu Lukaku in securing a "dream" move to Stamford Bridge before the transfer window closes.

"I'm disappointed in the attitude of Genk," the 20-year-old told Het Nieuwsblad. "I do not want any controversy, but I'm disappointed in the attitude of Genk. Chelsea was a very nice offer, the club wanted me to stay for one year in Genk.

"I hope it still goes on, because this is a dream for me. I wanted to give everything for one year in Genk and with a good feeling to say goodbye to the club and the supporters."

De Bruyne's agent Patrick de Koster is still working to make the deal work.

"We are having discussions about a transfer and I have a meeting with Genk and we will have to see what can be resolved," he told Sky Sports. "I think the discussions will be very long because I think we will need some time to find the right solution.

"But I would say that it is an opportunity for Kevin to make enormous progress in his career and that is the most important thing at the moment. We hope they will let him go."
