Inter confirm Forlan deal

Inter Milan have confirmed the signing of striker Diego Forlan from Atletico Madrid.

• Forlan bids farewell to Atleti
• Live Deadline Day - chat and updates

Forlan, 32, has signed a two-year contract with the 2010 Champions League winners and arrives as a replacement for Samuel Eto'o.

''Diego, welcome to Inter,'' read a statement on Inter's website. ''His stats tell the story of a top player that wants to continue to write new pages of his beautiful career with Inter.''

''This is an important moment,'' said Forlan. ''I have arrived to join a great team. I am mature and I have the right experience. To be here now is beautiful.''

The former Manchester United player expects to adapt to life in Italy and Inter in no time.

''I speak a bit of Italian,'' he said.''I studied Italian when I was young and although I have forgotten some words, I hope I will pick it up very quickly.

''To know a little bit of Italian will make it easier for me to adapt. I am very happy here, Milan is a wonderful city and even more beautiful are the Inter fans.''
