France striker Andre-Pierre Gignac is in talks with a club about a move away from Marseille, according to the French side's assistant coach Guy Stephan.
Gignac, 25, who has previously played for Lorient and Toulouse and has 16 international caps for France, has been linked with a move to England and Stephan has confirmed he is now discussing a deal that would see him leave the Stade Velodrome.
"I understand he is abroad,'' he told Marseille's official wesbite. "There are currently negotiations. We need the three parties agree. Maybe it will or will not happen.''
Despite the transfer window closing this evening Stephan believes his manager would want to sign a replacement.
"Didier Deschamps has always said he wanted an attacker. There may be an operation that will be possible in the day. But there are wishes and what is possible.
