QPR close on Ferdinand deal

QPR are in talks with Sunderland defender Anton Ferdinand and are close to agreeing a deal worth around £4 million to bring him to Loftus Road.

Ferdinand, 26, is one of the club's top earners on £40,000-a-week at the Stadium of Light and has been deemed surplus to requirements with Titus Bramble and Michael Turner returning from injury.

The younger brother of Man td defender Rio joined the club from West Ham for £8m three years ago and is in the final year of his contract at Sunderland.
