Kjaer set for Roma move

Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath has confirmed defender Simon Kjaer is on his way to join Serie A club Roma in a deal reportedly worth €10 million.

Kjaer has been earmarked to replace Philippe Mexes at the Stadio Olimpico, after the Frenchman joined AC Milan earlier in the summer. Roma's shock Europa League exit is unlikely to scupper the deal.

"He is on his way to sign a contract with Roma," Magath said after Thursday's training.

Earlier on Thursday, Magath revealed that no satisfactory bids had been received by the Bundesliga club for the services of Brazilian playmaker Diego.

Magath has less than a week to offload the club's highest earner before the transfer window closes, leaving Diego no choice but to keep himself fit training with the reserve team.
