Karius: Klopp call convinced me to join

Adebayor seals Spurs loan

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of Emmanuel Adebayor on a season-long loan from Manchester City.

• Spurs sign Yago on loan
• Diarra denies Spurs talk
• Redknapp would welcome Cole deal
• Redknapp confident of Adebayor deal

Adebayor, 27, spent time on loan at Real Madrid last season and had been keen to return but, although Jose Mourinho had hinted at an interest, no agreement was reached.

With Roberto Mancini having made clear that Adebayor is not part of his plans, though, Tottenham have moved to bolster their attacking options and a deal is now complete.

A statement on the official Tottenham website read: "We are delighted to announce the signing of Emmanuel Adebayor on a season-long loan from Manchester City."

Adebayor joins having made his name at Arsenal and has scored a joint-record eight goals for Arsenal against Spurs, as well as scoring twice against the club in the quarter-finals of the Champions League while on loan at Madrid last season. He joins William Gallas and David Bentley as former Arsenal players at White Hart Lane.
