Diouf critical of Rovers boss Kean

Exiled Blackburn forward El-Hadji Diouf has hit out at Rovers boss Steve Kean, who he believes has ruined the club since replacing Sam Allardyce.

• Blog: The king of wishful thinking

Diouf, 30, has been told that he will never play for the club again by Kean, despite Rovers' struggling for squad depth at the moment.

And the Senegal international, who has never been far from controversy during his nine-year stay in English football, believes that his club are already favourites for relegation after losing their opening two games of the season.

"Nobody used to want to come and play at Ewood Park," Diouf said. "It used to be hell. But right now everyone wants to play Blackburn. A lot of things have gone - that spirit we had to win the game for the fans, for the manager and for ourselves.

"Who is going to come in and make the difference? I don't see it. I don't want to see them relegated. But I know it's going to be hard. I was one of the biggest players at the club. Then it all changed under the new manager. If the players he had were better than me, OK I understand that. But right now that is not the case."

Diouf added that he believes Kean has become a different person since he was chosen by Rovers' owners Venky's as the successor to popular former boss Allardyce last December, and with six months left on his current deal the former Liverpool and Bolton attacker says he hopes to be released early.

"When he was coach, he used to talk to me all the time," Diouf said. "He'd tell me I was the club's best player. Then when he became the manager, he changed his opinion of me. The problem he has is with Sam Allardyce and he has put that on my back. It's better they let me go and I can find another club."
