Totti refutes Cassano rumours

Roma captain Francesco Totti has denied reports that he wants controversial forward Antonio Cassano to be brought back to Roma.

Cassano left Roma in acrimonious circumstances in 2006 following a bust-up with Totti and a protracted row over the renewal of his contract.

Now at AC Milan, Cassano has been linked with a return to the Giallorossi as part of a possible swap deal for striker Marco Borriello.

Totti was reported to be in favour of Cassano's return but the talismanic Roma skipper insists that is not the case.

"I haven't heard from Cassano for a lifetime," Roma told Corriere dello Sport. "There has been no contact for a while and I don't even have his mobile phone number. I wouldn't ring him to call him back to Rome.

"It's now time for something to be made clear – I'm no longer getting involved in questions about the transfer market. It has absolutely nothing to do with me. There are directors at this club who deal with these matters."

Cassano left the Giallorossi to join Real Madrid but failed to make his mark and said he would "walk all the way back" to rejoin Roma. Instead he went to Sampdoria, but was kicked out of the club in December 2010 following a row with chairman Riccardo Garrone before signing for Milan.

Despite the speculation of another move, Rossoneri vice-president Adriano Galliani does not expect Cassano to move on. Asked about the Roma link, he told Sky Sport Italia: "I heard this news on the television, but I think this is all just false information. As far as I am concerned Cassano is staying at Milan."
