Malaga owner: Trio were interested

Malaga owner Abdullah Al-Thani has already spent over €50 million bringing in new talent this summer and has claimed that Raul, Samuel Eto'o and Wesley Sneijder were all interested in moving to the club.

So far the likes of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Jeremy Toulalan, Diego Buonanotte, Santi Cazorla and Joris Mathijsen have arrived in southern Spain, with hopes of challenging at the top of the league this season.

And Al-Thani insists that players were lining up to join his revolution in La Liga.

"We have already achieved that some of the world's best players are interested in joining us. Sneijder, Eto'o and Raul were all open to a move to Malaga," Al Thani said to Al Sharq.

"We have a detailed plan for the future. Our goal is to make Malaga one of the biggest clubs around in Spain. We want to play Champions League football, or at least Europa League. There's no limit to our ambition.

"We don't care if we have to spend €60 million on 10 players, because we have the resources to sign another one for €60m more."
