Moratti: Sneijder is going nowhere

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti says that the 'untouchable' Wesley Sneijder won't be leaving the club this summer as he prepares for the exit of Samuel Eto'o.

• Forlan claims Inter contact
• Sneijder hints at United talks
• Eto'o: Nothing confirmed yet

Sneijder has been linked with a £35 million move to Manchester United but Inter have refused to sell their star midfielder, instead raising the cash they need by offloading Eto'o to Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala.

But Moratti insists that Sneijder was never for sale and that any reports of negotiations over his transfer were false.

"There have never been any kind of talks about Wes. It doesn't matter whether Eto'o stays put or leaves the club. Sneijder was untouchable before the situation with Eto'o and he has become even more so now Eto'o could leave. Long story short, Sneijder is going nowhere," Moratti told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Inter chief also admitted that he would miss Eto'o if his transfer to Russia is completed.

"I will really miss him if everything goes ahead. Not just as a player, but also as a human being,'' he said. ''He's a great guy and a superb player. He has always been an example to follow and is a real professional.

"He goes for the financial fair play and because when you get an offer like that it's hard to refuse it. The financial fair play is serious, not a joke: whoever doesn't respect the parameters will be out of European competitions.''

Moratti, though, played down suggestions that Carlos Tevez would move to Milan as Eto'o's replacement and admitted interest in Diego Forlan and Ezequiel Lavezzi.

"Will Tevez be the replacement? I don't think we will get him,'' he said. ''Forlan? Lavezzi? These are the names on which we are working: we are watching, exploring, we'll see.

"With (Napoli owner, Aurelio) De Laurentiis we spoke of Lavezzi, but it could just be a contact which finishes there. Giuseppe Rossi? We never thought of him, we're looking for a player with different characteristics."
