Boca and Velez up and running

Boca Juniors kickstarted their Apertura season with a 4-0 hammering of Union Santa Fe.

Having drawn their opener 0-0 against Olimpo, Boca wasted no time getting on the scoresheet this time as Walter Lucas Viatri netted within a minute.

He added a second with 11 minutes to play before a late surge yielded goals from Juan Roman Riquelme and Nicolas Colazo.

Velez Sarsfield also recorded a first win of the campaign at the second attempt, a 3-0 win over Banfield.

Santiago Silva got the ball rolling with a 23rd-minute penalty before Fernando Ortiz (49) and Juan Manuel Martinez (82) securing the points.

Arsenal Sarandi defeated Atletico Rafaela 3-1, with Luciano Leguizamon bagging a brace. Mauro Obolo scored Sarandi's other goal, with Alexis Castro claiming Rafaela's. Jhersson Cordoba was sent off for the losing side.

In the remaining fixture San Lorenzo saw off Estudiantes 2-0. Their goals came in the space of the three second-half minutes through Emmanuel Gigliotti (59) and Gabriel Mendez (61).
