Porto striker Falcao has said a move to Atletico Madrid would represent a "great opportunity".
Reports in Portugal and Spain suggest Atletico are close to agreeing a deal to bring Falcao to the Vicente Calderon as they seek a replacement for Sergio Aguero.
"Every player thinks about playing in one of the major leagues like Spain, Italy or England," Falcao said in A Bola. "Anyone who says otherwise is a liar.
"Atletico Madrid have great fans and it would be a great opportunity for my career. At the moment I am waiting to see what the solution to my future is."
Espanyol striker Pablo Osvaldo could also be set to join Atletico despite recent links with Roma. "I'm going to Atletico," he is quoted as saying in AS.
