Al Ittihad sign Wendel from Bordeaux

Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad have completed the sale of Brazilian midfielder Wendel from Bordeaux.

Wendel, 29, joined Les Girondins from Santos in 2006, scoring on his debut against Nice.

He went on to score five goals in 29 league appearances in his first campaign in France and was part of Laurent Blanc's title-winning side in 2009.

A statement on Bordeaux's official website read: "The club thanks Wendel for everything he achieved at Bordeaux and wish him the best on his new adventure.''

The South American scored a total of 35 goals in 156 league appearances including hat-tricks against Toulouse and Paris St Germain.
