Liverpool handed Exeter tie
Kenny Dalglish`s Liverpool have been drawn away to Exeter in the second round of the Carling Cup, while a Yorkshire derby between Doncaster and Leeds was also one of the standout ties.
Liverpool, who won the last of their seven League Cups in 2003, will make a midweek trip to Devon to face Paul Tisdale`s League One outfit at St James Park. Liverpool suffered embarrassment in the competition last season as Roy Hodgson's men went out on penalties at home to Northampton Town in the third round, and the League Two club will be hoping for another giantkilling as they take on Wolves at home this time around.
Everton will host Sheffield United, while two of the three Premier League newcomers were given home ties with Norwich playing MK Dons at Carrow Road and Neil Warnock`s Queen Park Rangers facing Rochdale to Loftus Road.
Fellow top-flight newboys Swansea were handed a trip to Shrewsbury with five-time winners Aston Villa drawn out at home against Hereford.
The unseeded teams were drawn earlier in the day and West Brom and Sunderland both face trips to the south coast to face Bournemouth and Brighton respectively.
Elsewhere Sheffield Wednesday were rewarded for Thursday's penalty shoot-out victory over Blackpool with a trip to Blackburn, while Macclesfield will make the short trip to Bolton. Wigan will travel to the winner of the rearranged tie between Crystal Palace and Crawley while Scunthorpe take on Newcastle.
The ties will take place in the week beginning August 22.
