Modric still wants Blues switch

Luka Modric insists he is "still waiting" to find out whether he will be allowed to leave Tottenham Hotspur.

• Van der Vaart: Modric will stay
• Keane expecting to leave
•  Dawson bullish about top-four hopes
• Spurs game called off

Modric has made clear his desire to join Chelsea this summer, but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has remained adamant throughout that the Croatia midfielder will be staying put.

Rafael van der Vaart said this week that he is convinced that Modric will remain at the club, but it appears he is still harbouring hope of a move.

"I don't want to talk about that," he told RTE Sport when asked about his future. "I said before what I think and that's it. I said a lot of things before and still everything is the same at the moment. I will see - I'm still waiting."

Asked whether he would still be at the club at the end of the transfer window, Modric smiled, said, "See you", and walked away.

Despite his own desire to leave, Modric - speaking after Croatia's friendly with Ireland on Wednesday - said he hopes to see Robbie Keane remain at White Hart Lane.

"I would like him to stay but I know he wants to play," he said. "If that is not possible at Tottenham, he will probably try to find other options, but I would like him to stay and to play for us. He's a great player. What can I say? I don't know what will happen."
