Inkoom delighted by Blues link

Ghana defender Samuel Inkoom says he is hopeful he can complete a move to Chelsea.

• Van Walle: Lukaku living the dream
• Torres doubtful for opener
• Chelsea season preview

Inkoom, 22, only left Basel for Dnipro in January this year, but he is reported to be a target for the Blues as they look to inject some youth into the squad.

"To be honest, the day I heard Chelsea were interested in me, I was very happy," he told skysports.com. "Who would not like to be linked with such a big club, with world-class players? It is a dream club for any player, specifically for young African players like me. Hopefully it will happen."

Inkoom, a FIFA Under-20 World Cup winner in 2009, is capable of playing at right back or in central defence.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are close to completing a deal for Anderlecht striker Romelu Lukaku but there will be no official unveiling in the coming days.

A statement on the player's official website read: "Please note that no official presentation and no press conference will take place in Chelsea this week."
