Huntelaar to snub Rubin

Schalke 04 have revealed that Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar will not be joining Rubin Kazan.

• Eto'o closes on Anzhi move

Rubin, who finished third in the Russian Premier League in 2010 and currently sit fourth in the table, face Lyon in the Champions League qualifiers this month.

It was thought Huntelaar could become the next player to head to Russia, with Samuel Eto'o seemingly bound for Anzhi Makhachkala - the club which at the weekend snapped up Yuri Zhirkov from Chelsea.

Huntelaar is reportedly the subject of a potential €14 million bid from Rubin, but the Netherlands international wants to stay with his Bundesliga club.

Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt told Sport Bild: "We have been approached by a Russian team. Kazan have shown an interest in signing Klaas-Jan. They have apparently already spoken with his agent as well.

"However, he has ruled out a transfer as far as I know. Klaas-Jan is staying at Schalke."
