Heynckes: Breno staying at Bayern

Brazilian defender Breno will not leave Bayern Munich this summer, according to coach Jupp Heynckes.

• Bayern win DFB Pokal opener

The 21-year-old started just seven games in the Bundesliga last season after recovering from injury and Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge had suggested the former Sao Paulo player's days were numbered.

However, Heynckes told Kicker-Sportmagazin: "Breno remains here, definitely.

"I am hoping he is going to cope with the workload. This would be important as I need to have a good alternative choice in terms of central defence.''
