PSG ease to win over Boca

Paris St Germain bounced back from their surprise defeat to New York Red Bulls with a resounding victory over Boca Juniors in the Emirates Cup.

Video highlights (UK only)

Goals from Jean-Eudes Maurice, Guillaume Hoarau and captain Marcos Ceara sealed victory for the noveau riche Parisians at the Emirates Stadium, where both sides made wholesale changes.

Boca, who came from 2-0 down to draw with Arsenal on Saturday, were made to pay for calamitous defending and poor finishing after creating more than enough chances to make a game of it.

The Argentinians were simply unable to cope with deliveries from out wide, something that was clear as early as the eighth minute when they fell behind.

Anderson Nene whipped in a corner and Maurice poked home the simplest of finishes as Boca's defence and goalkeeper went AWOL.

Boca were more than a match for big-spending PSG in midfield and Pablo Mouche, who scored the equaliser against Arsenal yesterday, twice shot straight at Alphonse Areola, while Ceara produced a desperate block to deny Sergio Araujo.

Araujo missed a glorious chance to level seven minutes before the break, firing Cristian Chavez's through ball straight at Areola.

And Boca were made to pay a minute later when Hoarau headed in Maurice's right wing cross, an opposing defender nowhere to be seen.

PSG, whose spending spree since their takeover by the Qatar Investment Authority did not stop them losing 1-0 to the Red Bulls, could have extended their lead through Kevin Gameiro at the start of the second half.

His shot was blocked, while he also had reason to berate team-mates Nene when the pair fashioned a two-on-one opportunity.

But it did not matter, with Ceara applying the coup de grace 11 minutes from time, curling a beautiful free-kick into the top corner.
