Spurs pick up comeback win

Tottenham came back to win 3-2 in a pre-season friendly away to Championship newcomers Brighton, who led after 11 minutes through Ashley Barnes.

Everton won 2-1 at Birmingham with goals in the second half from Leighton Baines, with a free-kick, and substitute Louis Saha. Birmingham's consolation came from Adam Rooney who back-heeled in a shot from Morgaro Gomis.

Bolton were 3-1 winners at non-league Newport but the shine was taken off the win as midfielder Lee Chung-yong was carried off on a stretcher with a suspected broken leg.

Ivan Klasnic scored twice for Bolton with a Tom Miller own goal adding to the Trotters' tally. Elliott Buchanan had given Newport the lead before Bolton took control.

Burnley beat Sunderland 1-0 with a penalty in the first half from Jay Rodriguez.

Substitute Craig Dawson got the only goal with a late header as West Brom won 1-0 at Bristol City, goalkeeper Ben Foster marking his Baggies debut with a clean sheet having joined them on loan from from Birmingham.

Aaron Wilbraham, Steve Morison and Elliott Bennett got the goals as Norwich were 3-0 winners at Coventry.

Stephen Hunt and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake netted late in the second half for Wolves who won 2-1 at Ipswich after summer signing Lee Bowyer had given the home side the lead just before half-time.

Sheffield Wednesday and Stoke played out a goalless draw at Hillsborough, with the visitors fielding different line-ups in each half. Stoke twice went close after the break, Ben Marshall having a header cleared off the line and Diego Arismendi hitting the crossbar with a fierce drive.

Matt Taylor and Freddie Sears scored for West Ham in their 2-0 home victory over Real Zaragoza.
