Wickham bags for Black Cats

Sunderland recorded a 2-1 win over Kilmarnock over Rugby Park as Connor Wickham got his first goal for the Black Cats. Keiren Westwood and Wes Brown made their debuts for Sunderland, who took the lead through Stephane Sessegnon in the 36th minute.

Garry Hay curled in a free-kick for the hosts early in the second half but Wickham broke clear to grab the winner with quarter of an hour to go.

Nigel Reo-Coker, Tyrone Mears and Chris Eagles all featured for Bolton as they enjoyed a 2-0 win over Bury at Gigg Lane.

Reo-Coker signed as a free agent earlier on Wednesday while Eagles and Mears are still in the process of finalising moves from Burnley, but were given special dispensation by the Championship club to play.

The trio began on the bench, and watched Bolton take the lead moments before half-time when Ivan Klasnic fired home from close range after a corner.

Reo-Coker, Eagles and Myers made their entrance at the break, and Eagles set up Reo-Coker for a chance he should have scored early in the second half. Moments later, the second came when Gary Cahill headed home Martin Petrov's corner.

Wolves saw off an under-strength Celtic side 2-0 at Parkhead. Jamie O'Hara scored with a 28th minute free-kick and an own goal from Celtic substitute Filip Twardzik settled matters in the second half.

West Brom drew 2-2 with Southampton as there were a flurry of late goals at St Mary's. Simon Cox broke the deadlock in the 58th minute to put the Baggies in front, but Jack Cork levelled with 17 minutes to go. Cox quickly had West Brom back in front, but Rickie Lambert snatched an equaliser five minutes from time.

Erjon Bogdani's late goal condemned QPR to a 1-0 defeat to Cesena in San Marino.
