Stekelenburg gets Netherlands recall

Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk has recalled first-choice goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg to his squad for next month's friendly against England at Wembley.

Ajax keeper Stekelenburg missed the Oranje's South American double-header against Brazil and Uruguay in June with a thumb injury but is restored to the squad, alongside back-up custodians Tim Krul and Michel Vorm.

Newcastle youngster Krul keeps his place at the expense of NEC Nijmegen's Jasper Cillessen after impressing on his debut against Brazil last month.

AC Milan's Mark van Bommel and Tottenham playmaker Rafael van der Vaart are back after injury, but there was no place in the 26-man selection for Spartak Moscow midfielder Demy de Zeeuw, who fell foul of Van Marwijk when he pulled out of the South American tour at the last minute citing fatigue.

Netherlands squad: Tim Krul (Newcastle), Maarten Stekelenburg (Ajax), Michel Vorm (FC Utrecht); Khalid Boulahrouz (Stuttgart), Edson Braafheid (Hoffenheim), Jeffrey Bruma (Hamburg), John Heitinga (Everton), Joris Mathijsen (Malaga), Erik Pieters (PSV Eindhoven), Ron Vlaar (Feyenoord), Gregory van der Wiel (Ajax); Ibrahim Afellay (Barcelona), Mark van Bommel (AC Milan), Theo Janssen (Ajax), Nigel de Jong (Manchester City), Hedwiges Maduro (Valencia), Stijn Schaars (Sporting Lisbon), Wesley Sneijder (Inter Milan), Kevin Strootman (PSV Eindhoven), Rafael van der Vaart (Tottenham); Eljero Elia (Hamburg), Klaas Jan Huntelaar (Schalke), Luuk de Jong (FC Twente), Dirk Kuyt (Liverpool), Robin van Persie (Arsenal), Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich).
