Youssouf Mulumbu claims he spurned interest from Fiorentina and Bayern Munich to stay at West Brom.
Mulumbu, 24, joined from Paris St Germain in 2009 and has become a key part of the West Brom midfield. Although some of Europe's top clubs apparently showed interest, he signed a new three-year deal earlier this week.
"I heard about teams like Fiorentina and Bayern Munich being interested in me, but now is not the right time to go," Mulumbu told the club's official website. "I spoke to the board and they made me think about my situation and I think it is better for me to stay at West Brom.
"The club has shown me the desire in every respect to stay at the club. It means they want to build a big team and I'm glad to be involved. I know the gaffer; I know the club. They play good football and I think we can do much better."
