Fernando Gago wants to return to Argentina with his former club Boca Juniors, according to his agent.
Gago, 25, has struggled to hold down a regular first-team place at Real Madrid and he currently faces competition from Lassana Diarra, Sami Khedira, Nuri Sahin, Pepe and Xabi Alonso for a defensive midfield position.
And now his agent, Marcelo Lombilla, told Ole: "Fernando's wish is to return to Boca and that is what we are going to try and get.
"You can see how much desire he has to go back. It is such that I still can't believe he would give up so much money."
Gago had been linked to Liverpool as a long-term replacement for Javier Mascherano, but their current myriad of midfielders means a return to South America currently looks far more likely.
