Larsson hails Ji impact

Sebastien Larsson has praised new signing Ji Dong-won and has backed him to be a big success for Sunderland.

Larsson also arrived at the club this summer - joining from relegated Birmingham City - but has been impressed by the impact Ji has already had during his short stay at the club.

"Ji has looked impressive," he told the Echo. "He gets involved, which most of the time is the problem for foreigners when they come to England - the physical side of it.

"In training and in the games, he looks a good player. Of course it's difficult for him that he doesn't speak any English, but there's a good bunch of lads here.

"We might not have the longest conversations in the world with him, but he's in and around it all the time. He'll learn, especially on the pitch, where he seems to be picking things up very quickly.

"He looks very clever with the runs he makes in behind and that wasn't easy for him on Saturday because our approach play was a bit too slow."

Despite signing eight players already, Sunderland are still expected to recruit further new additions in their bid to improve following a disappointed end to last season.
