Musialik poised to join Mariners

Midfielder Stuart Musialik is reportedly on the verge of signing a deal with the Central Coast Mariners.

Musialik left Sydney FC at the end of the AFC Champions League group stage and has been in limbo ever since as A-League clubs continue to fill their rosters for the impending season.

However, former national team boss, now Mariners head coach, Graham Arnold, has extended an offer to the former Olyroo to join what would be a formidable midfield including the likes of Rostyn Griffiths, Oliver Bozanic, Michael McGlinchey and new Borussia Dortmund recruit Mustafa Amini.

It is understood Musialik has been offered a contract to return to his hometown club the Newcastle Jets, where he won the A-League championship in 2008, but has opted instead to link up with Arnold in order to boost his career.

"I wasn't happy at Sydney, and I know I would enjoy my football under 'Arnie'," Musialik told the Newcastle Herald.

"I know the style of football he likes to play and I think I could do a job for them."

"When I was in the Olyroos and here [Newcastle] under Gary van Egmond was when I was playing my best football," Musialik said.

If the deal is to go ahead, Musialik will become only the second player to appear for all three NSW clubs, after striker Sasho Petrovski played for Sydney, Central Coast and Newcastle in his A-League career.
