Bangor battered by Helsinki

Bangor City faced an uphill challenge to reach the third qualifying round of the Champions League after a 3-0 home defeat to HJK Helsinki last week, and their elimination was confirmed after a 10-0 thrashing in Finland.

• UCL draw: Rangers face Malmo

The Welsh Premier League champions were 2-0 down at half-time after goals from Alexander Ring (37) and Berat Sadik (44).

But they capitulated in the half and conceded eight more with Erfan Zeneli, Teemu Pukki and Kastriot Kastrati all scoring twice to wrap up an emphatic win and secure a difficult tie against Dinamo Zagreb in the next round.

Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb advanced following a 3-0 defeat of Neftchi on aggregate. After triumphing by three goals in the first leg, a goalless draw in Azerbaijan proved enough.

Shamrock Rovers have progressed from the second qualifying round of the Champions League after a 0-0 draw against Flora Tallinn in Estonia gave them a 1-0 aggregate victory.

Chris Turner's goal after half an hour in last week's opening leg proved to be enough for Shamrock, where they will face current Danish Superliga champions FC Copenhagen over two legs.

Northern Ireland Premier League holders Linfield were also eliminated after a 2-0 defeat to Belarusian outfit BATE Borisov.

Linfield travelled to Borisov having drawn the first leg 1-1, but goals from Pavel Nekhaichik and Aleksandr Pavlov in three half minutes set up a third round clash with FK Ekranas of Lithuania for BATE.

Bulgarian club Litex cruised into the next round following a 5-1 aggregate triumph over Mogren. Petar Zanev opened the scoring before former Portsmouth striker Svetoslav Todorov netted from the penalty spot. Hristo Yanev wrapped up the win on 80 minutes.

Partizan's passage to the next stage was all-but assured when they overcame Shkendija 4-0 in their first leg meeting last week. And their triumph was rubber-stamped as Vladimir Jovancic scored in the second meeting to seal a 5-0 aggregate victory.

Wisla Krakow also cruised into the following phase following a 3-0 aggregate scalp of Skonto. Patryk Malecki and Ivica Iliev were both on target in the second meeting.
