Mancini confident over Toure injury

Manchester City maintained their 100% start to pre-season with a 2-1 win over Vancouver, but the victory came at a cost as Yaya Toure limped off with an ankle injury.

Toure crumpled to the floor after landing awkwardly and received lengthy treatment on the pitch. He was able to stand and hobbled off the field, but only with the aid of two members of the club's staff.

Roberto Mancini remains hopeful that the injury will not significantly hamper the player's pre-season preparation.

"We will have to see but I hope he will have recovered in three or four days," Mancini said. "He fell over the other player's foot and hurt his ankle, but hopefully he will be okay."

Meanwhile, midfielder Gareth Barry was full of praise for young striker John Guidetti, who scored City's equaliser.

"John is young," he said. "He is a good player and I think he can have a good future at Manchester City. He is strong. He is a typical English striker, even though he is Swedish. He has a good technique. He wants to improve.

"He will have time here. It is important that he continues to work well and continues to improve. Today he scored a good goal but when you are a young player, you need to improve every day. This year is important. He has a chance."
