Wright-Phillips to fight for City future

Shaun Wright-Phillips would prefer to remain at Manchester City for the forthcoming season, despite being linked with a move away from Eastlands.

• City accept Tevez bid
• Clichy left to win trophies

Wright-Phillips' future is in doubt after the winger made just two Premier League starts under manager Roberto Mancini last campaign.

The likes of Wigan and Aston Villa have been credited with an interest in the 29-year-old, who re-joined City from Chelsea in 2008.

But after scoring in Saturday's friendly win over Club America, Wright-Phillips is determined to prove he has a future at Eastlands.

"I'm working hard and I have no intention of going anywhere else," Wright-Phillips told the Sun. "If they want to keep me I want to be here. That would be my ideal scenario and I've told the manager that.

"Everyone knows my feelings for the club, but let's see what happens."

Reflecting on the midfielder's performance at the weekend, Mancini said: "Shaun played very well and I hope this year can be a good year for him. He is a good guy and every time I need to choose a player it is very difficult."
