Mazzarri expects Hamsik stay

Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri is confident Marek Hamsik will be plying his trade at the club next season.

• Napoli name Hamsik asking price

Hamsik's future has been the subject of conjecture this summer, amid reports several sides are monitoring his situation after a fine 2010-11 campaign.

AC Milan have been mooted as potential suitors while Arsenal have also been mentioned with rumours suggesting he could be targeted as a replacement for Barcelona target Cesc Fabregas.

An agreement seems unlikely, though, after Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis recently placed an eye-watering €100million price tag on the 23-year-old.

And on Monday, Mazzarri told Gazzetta dello Sport: "Marek is happy to work with me and he is very motivated. He is happy to remain here.

"I have spoken to him and from what I know, in the end he will not leave."

Hamsik joined Napoli from Brescia in 2007 and is under contract with the Serie A outfit for another four years.

He scored 11 goals in 37 league appearances to help the Naples outfit finish third last season and qualify for the Champions League.
