Pavlyuchenko's 'heart belongs to Spurs'

Tottenham may face a fight to hang onto midfielder Luka Modric, but Roman Pavlyuchenko has no intention of leaving Spurs.

• Sandro out injured
• Modric transfer request rejected

The Russian has struggled to establish himself as a first-choice striker for Harry Redknapp's side, and had become increasingly frustrated with life on the bench.

Pavlyuchenko, who faces competition from Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch for a place in the starting XI, claimed earlier this season he would look to leave White Hart Lane in the summer, but agent Oleg Artemov claims Pavlyuchenko is happy at Spurs and his client's "heart belongs to Tottenham".

Spartak Moscow had confirmed their interest in bringing the striker back to Russia, but now Pavlyuchenko wants to sign a contract extension at Spurs.

"We haven't talked about Roman's future with Tottenham yet," Artemov told Sovetskiy Sport. "The team is in South Africa at the moment and then we'll negotiate about his contract extension.

"We don't care about any other offers because Roman wants to stay in London, his heart belongs to Tottenham."
