Cisse eyes return to France squad

Striker Djibril Cisse has set out his determination to win back a place in the France squad after his move from Panathinaikos to Lazio.

Cisse, 30, has won 40 caps for his country, scoring nine goals, but has played only three times since leaving Marseille in 2008. He scored 43 league goals in his two seasons in Greece, adding five in the 2009-10 Europa League, although he failed to find the net in Champions League action.

And the striker is hopeful a move to the more prestigious Serie A will bring him back into Les Bleus coach Laurent Blanc's thoughts, and told L'Equipe: ''I still have life in my legs.

''I had two super seasons with Panathinaikos, but obviously it was not enough. It's annoying.

''I know what I am worth, I know what I want and I am not dead as far as the France team is concerned. Is the Greek league not strong enough? We will see this season.

''The Italian League is one of the biggest in Europe and I wanted to discover it. We will have a super team and for me, it is a super challenge. I will face strong defences and I will see where I stand.

''The coach knows Serie A well and he wants strikers who score goals in major leagues. So if I can make an impact there...''
