Milan not in Pastore race

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani insists the club are not in the race to sign Palermo playmaker Javier Pastore.

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini revealed earlier this week that an Italian club are among the contenders to sign Pastore, with the likes of Manchester City and Barcelona also linked.

However, Galliani insists Milan are not among the interested clubs. "The Italian club which Zamparini refers to is not AC Milan," he said.

The player's agent, Marcelo Simonian, also said Chelsea and Inter have not expressed an interest in Pastore.

"President Maurizio Zamparini wants €50 million for him and that is a price that I totally agree with," Simonian told FCInterNews.

"Both the president and myself know about the potential of Pastore and what he can do in the future. However, to end the rumours, I can confirm that I have had absolutely no contact with Inter, Milan or Chelsea."

Galliani also brushed aside ongoing speculation that Real Madrid midfielder Kaka would return this summer. Kaka has had a troubled spell with Madrid in which injuries and form have hindered his career, but the Brazil international appears eager to prove his worth and Milan have said in the past that his wages would make a move problematic.

"It is a very complex operation," Galliani said. "He has remained in our hearts but it objectively remains a difficult deal."
