Mourinho: Real need one more attacker

Real Madrid may have brought in five new players so far this summer, but coach Jose Mourinho believes that his side still need one more attacker.

• Beckham expects Real Madrid success

Mourinho spent €30 million on Benfica defender Fabio Coentrao, while also adding Lens' Raphael Varane and midfielders Nuri Sahin and Hamit Altintop to the squad. Forward Jose Callejon has also rejoined the club from Espanyol, but with Emmanuel Adebayor heading back to Manchester City, the Portuguese boss still believes something is missing.

"We decided to improve and balance the squad without ever losing the dimension of creating a team for the future," Mourinho said in an interview on Real's website. "We have signed players whom we felt were important to complete a squad that was already very strong.

''In my opinion, and in that of everyone, we are missing one more man, one more attacker."

Madrid have been linked with big-money bids for South American duo Sergio Aguero and Neymar, and Mourinho believes he is building for the future at the Bernabeu.

"We have a team that needs to grow and at certain moments it could feel some weakness on an emotional level and in terms of experience," he said. "I am delighted to work with them because they are highly motivated and want to learn and win. The technical staff is absolutely delighted."
