Neuer shrugs off criticism

Bayern Munich newcomer Manuel Neuer has shrugged off protests from the club's fans and has vowed to focus on the task at hand.

Boateng agrees Bayern deal

Neuer joined the German giants from Bundesliga rivals Schalke last month, much to the chagrin of the Bayern faithful who protested vigorously at his appointment. But the Germany international has taken the criticism in his stride as he looks to help Bayern rise above their domestic competitors.

"I am professional footballer and I have a job to do and so it's not good to focus on trivial matters," he told Bild. "There have been some extreme moments over the past few months, but this is just all an experience for me.

"I have a great hunger for titles as last year I won the DFB Pokal with Schalke, and I want to celebrate good success with Bayern," he said.

Bayern, meanwhile, have been linked to a move for Chelsea defender Alex after growing frustrated by Manchester City over a potential deal for Jerome Boateng, with the Blues reportedly looking to bring in Real Madrid's Pepe.
