Beckham expects Madrid success

David Beckham believes Real Madrid are capable of winning every competition they enter this season.

Zidane gets directorial role

Arriving on the back of his Treble triumph with Inter, Jose Mourinho endured a disappointing first season with Madrid and only claimed the Copa del Rey as Barcelona triumphed in La Liga and the Champions League.

They have already reinforced the squad this summer with the likes of Fabio Coentrao and Nuri Sahin, though, and Beckham is convinced they will enjoy greater success in 2011-12.

"Madrid are building a powerful side with important players and they can win every competition they enter," he told Marca. "They're a team that strike fear into their opponents and I have no doubts that they are capable of winning everything.

"They have one of the best coaches in the world - Mourinho is a genius - and he has proved it with every team that he's coached."

Beckham, who won the league title during his four-year spell at the Bernabeu, is preparing to face his former club when they take on LA Galaxy in a pre-season friendly at the the LA Coliseum on July 16.

Beckham added: "Ronaldo is a phenomenon and one of the best players around. Hopefully I'll get to play against him.

"I have a shoulder problem, but it feels better all the time and I have a week to prepare for the game against Madrid."
