Pav brands Anzhi rumours 'total rubbish'

Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko has denied that he is set to return to his native Russia with big-spending Anzhi Makhachkala.

Pavlyuchenko, 29, arrived in England from Spartak Moscow in a £14 million deal three years ago, but has failed to ever really settle at White Hart Lane.

The Russian forward is regularly linked with a move away from Spurs and the latest club tipped to sign him were Anzhi, who have already persuaded Roberto Carlos, Diego Tardelli and Balazs Dzsudzsak to join their ranks.

But while Pavlyuchenko admits his future is far from certain, he stressed that he has no plans to return to Russia.

"I don't even know who needs [this gossip], who's doing it all, who's writing it," heis quoted as saying by ITV Sport. "It's all untrue that I'm going to continue my career at Anzhi. It's obviously total rubbish.

"When the time comes for a change, an offer would be good and I will agree to it. But for the time being it's hard for me to say what tomorrow will bring."
