Wolfsburg sign Salihamidzic from Juve

Wolfsburg have signed veteran midfielder Hasan Salihamidzic from Juventus on a one-year deal.

Salihamidzic, who played for Bayern Munich for nine years before moving to Italy in 2007, returns to the Bundesliga to add some much-needed experience to Felix Magath's side.

After playing regularly in his first season at Juventus, Salihamidzic became a peripheral figure at the Stadio Olimpico and managed just one Serie A start in 2010-11.

But Magath, who is looking to rebuild Wolfsburg after the 2009 Bundesliga champions finished 15th and only narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of the season, believes the 34-year-old will prove an excellent addition.

"Brazzo is a player who has played in a number of positions at the very top level of football through his career," Magath said. "He is a signing that will make us flexible in the coming season. I'm convinced his maturity and experience will do our team good.

A move to the Volkswagen Arena will also reunite him for a third time with Wolfsburg boss Felix Magath, under whom he worked at Hamburg and Bayern.

Salihamidzic won six Bundesliga titles, four German Cups and the 2001 Champions League during his time with the Bavarians and is the Wolves' fourth new signing for next season, following on from the captures of Patrick Ochs, Srdjan Lakic and Mateusz Klich.

"For me it was clear that after Bayern and Juve, not every club would come into consideration,'' Salihamidzic said.

"But Felix Magath gave me the chance to play football and for that reason it was clear to me that I would do this. Here I am part of an interesting project that Felix Magath has built up.''
